Crispy Fried Chicken Wings
These wings are delicious and moreish and will have your guests begging you for the secret recipe. Succulent, juicy, crispy, salty wings every time. Known as Gai Todd in Thailand. It is quick, easy and is great addition to any party or barbecue.
Preparation time: 15minutes
Cooking time: 10minutes
- 1.5kg of raw chicken wings
- Golden Mountain seasoning sauce
- Knorr Chicken or Pork seasoning powder
- Self raising flour
- Mixing Bowl
- Deep Fryer
Clean your work surfaces and preheat the deep fryer to 170°C
Clean up the chicken wings in cold water and trim off any nasty bits. Put the prepared wings into the mixing bowl
Add to the chicken wings Three table spoons of the Golden Mountain seasoning sauce
Next add one tablespoon of the Knorr seasoning powder and mix the wings up by hand ensuring all wings are coated in the seasoning sauce and powder.
leave to marinade for approximately 15 minutes
Add the self raising flour to the marinated wings. Start by adding just three table spoons at first. Mix by hand until the wings are coated in a light creamy batter
If your wings at this stage do not look like the image above, you have 1 of two problems.
1 – Too dry:mixture is not creamy. Add more seasoning sauce and mix again by hand
2 – Too wet: mixture is too watery. Add more flour and mix again by hand.
Gently drop the wings into the deep fryer heated up to 170°C. Do one wing at a time putting in the biggest wings first. Don’t overload the fryer as the wings will stick together. After the last wing has been put in start the clock. These should take about 8 minutes to cook.
Lift up the frying basket and allow all the oil to drain. You can also put a sheet of paper towel into a bowl and drop your wings into the bowl to soak up excess oil
Serve up your wings on a beautiful presentation plate with some dipping sauces. We recommend Franks Buffalo hot sauce, Siracha or sweet chilli. Enjoy
